I was contacted for a Product Designer role, and HR scheduled an interview, mentioning that they needed a replacement for a team member who was leaving. The process was explained to me in three rounds: a first interview, a design assignment to be submitted in two days, and a final HR round.
The interview went smoothly with simple questions, and I was given a large design assignment, which required me to redesign their app program. I worked on it diligently for two days, giving my best effort to complete the task. After submitting the assignment, I didn't hear back for weeks, despite following up multiple times. Eventually, when I managed to get in touch with the hiring team, I was informed that the role had been closed.
It’s disheartening to experience this kind of treatment, where companies take the time and effort of candidates, assign extensive design tasks, and then ghost them without any feedback or communication. It reflects poorly on their professionalism and respect for candidates' time and energy.
