I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Yelp (Chicago, IL) in Apr 2015
Interview
Do NOT listen the reviews above. Just because you get to the background/webinar stage does NOT MEAN YOU HAVE THE JOB.
I applied online in February and got an email back at the beginning of April. The process took about a month.
It started with a phone interview with a hiring manager. She asked me the first role play question below. At the end of the interview when I told her I was interested and asked for next steps she said I had made it to the in person interview in Chicago.
I went in for the in person a week later. It lasted about an hour and consisted of a tour, and two individual interviews with recruiters. The first recruiter asked really tough questions and her role play was more in depth. The second interviewer was more mellow with his role play and questions. Be prepared to really be confident in the role plays and let your personality shine. I was not asked to do the role plays again like some other reviews because I guess they didn't have very much feedback for me.
Next, I received an email requesting me to approve a background check and participate in a webinar. At this point I thought I had the job. Unfortunately the head recruiter emailed me asking to schedule a phone call "where I could ask questions about the webinar". She called a week later and took me by surprise.... It was an interview. She never called it that, which was probably the intention she had. So I was definitely taken off guard and that screwed up the whole job for me in general.
Didn't get a rejection email till 2 weeks after the last phone call!
Thats ok though, I really enjoyed the process. Yelp is a cool company but they definitely have a way of manipulating their culture to make that seem like how the job will be... when the job is cold calling. Not fun.

Question 1
#1 Role Play: Let's say I'm a client who has missed my phone interview 3 times. Leave me a voicemail to reschedule.
#2 Role Play: Call me, I am an employee at a Bakery. Try to get my boss Barb on the phone.
#3 Role Play: I am a client you have been speaking with for some time now about Yelp ads. Despite your efforts I have decided to advertise in the local newspaper, convince me not to.
I applied online. I interviewed at Yelp (Wake Forest, NC)
Interview
Very professional, informative, and timely interview process. I was very impressed with how well put together the entire process was and how fast things moved. Everyone on the hiring team was extremely punctual and even willing to take extra time to make sure all your questions are answered.

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Yelp (Austin, TX) in May 2026
Interview
The interview process was pleasant from start to finish. It included a recruiter phone screen, a video call with the sales manager, a role play exercise, and the opportunity to implement the manager’s feedback.

Question 1
One question they asked during my interview was what specifically about the role made me feel it was a strong fit for my background and experience.
The interview process with Yelp was a very organized experience. From the first email after I put in my application, to the offer extension call, I always felt well informed and included.
