I am incredibly unhappy with my experience applying for a job with this company. After submitting to a job online, I was contacted by someone in talent acquisition, and scheduled an initial phone interview. The scheduled time was for 10:30am, but I never received a call. At 11:00, I decided to email the contact, and they informed me they were tied up in a meeting all day, would be out the rest of the week, and to email them the following week to reschedule. Now, at this point I was a little annoyed by the lack of communication, but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. So, I contacted them the following week, as advised, and rescheduled my phone interview. Once again, the time of the phone call was 10:30am. At 10:28, I receive an email informing me that the hiring manager has already selected candidates for the position, so there isn’t a need to conduct the phone interview. Of course I understand that this is a very early step in the interview process, but I find this small interaction extremely unprofessional and incredibly disrespectful. I can only assume the manner which they conducted themselves is a reflection on how the company is run as a whole. Also, speaking as someone who spends most of their free time searching for gainful employment, it’s very disheartening to see such a high level of incompetence from such a well respected company. I can only hope that other applicants are treated with much more respect than I experienced.
