I applied online. I interviewed at Xerxes Global (New York, NY) in Apr 2026
Interview
I withdrew my application during the HR screening call.
The process felt poorly handled. The HR screen did not feel well prepared, and several questions came across as assumption-based rather than grounded in my CV. I also felt my relevant financial services and product experience was not properly recognised during the discussion.
A mandatory Wonderlic cognitive/personality assessment was disclosed only at the end of the screening call. I was not comfortable proceeding with that type of assessment after the initial interaction, especially as the process also included further interviews and a case study.
Overall, the process gave me concerns about the company’s hiring approach and culture fit.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about your background and what you are looking for next.
How would you feel moving from a large enterprise environment into a smaller, faster-paced company?
How do you handle situations where goalposts change frequently?
Have you worked in backend-heavy or API-driven product environments?
What kind of role or company environment are you looking for?
It didn’t really feel like an interview - felt very formal and couldn’t get a vibe on the company from this process. I was given an offer immediately and didn’t really get a sense of what it was like to work there.
The process felt unprofessional, especially considering how friendly and accommodating they were during the initial stages. Also, the second interviewer barely asked any questions during the interview. They spent more time talking about the company, which left me feeling like the conversation wasn’t truly about assessing my fit for the role.
