      UX Researcher Interview

      Application

      Interview

I filled out the online application and submitted my resume and cover letter. I was sent an email a week later asking me to complete an exercise by creating a UX research roadmap for an outlined area of research to include timelines, methods, stakeholders and operational needs etc. I was to complete the exercise and submit my research plan within 48 hours. I have a background in research and direct research efforts currently, so this wasn't difficult but the time frame was a bit strict considering many applicants have jobs and coming up with a 3 month plan in less than 2 is a lot to ask for a first round interview. I began to consider whether they were actually hiring for this position, or if they were hoping to use an interview to glean expertise without actually hiring anyone. Never the less, I submitted my plan and received a generic auto-email a few days later saying that I wouldn't be considered to continue the interview process. It's fine that I wasn't chosen, but I feel that if you are going to ask someone to complete such a detailed project under a tight deadline, it would be more respectful to have the recruiter inform the candidate and not just send a generic email. I gave you a good amount of my time so I don't think it's too much to ask for a few min of yours.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 8 months. I interviewed at X in Oct 2019

      Interview

STRUNG ALONG, NOT PROFESSIONAL!! Applied online and was contacted by a recruiter to complete a task. I completed the task and was moved to the next round. Next round was in person interview onsite. It was a whole 4hr interview, with about 8 people (2 in each). After the interview I was told I would hear back the following Monday. Then it was pushed back again, then again, then again. I reached out and asked multiple times about the status, and only heard things like "waiting on the headcount", "waiting on x, y, z". All I wanted was a simple yes or no, so that I can move on with my life. I never did receive an answer. I felt I was strung along. I interviewed in October, and I was getting BS excuses all the way until February, then I finally gave it up. It was extremely unorganized, they should know how many and who they need BEFORE interviewing so many people, then leaving us out to dry. Highly disappointed, and unprofessional. I definitely dodged a bullet. The Recruiting team really needs to get it together, and realize they are dealing with peoples lives. Telling someone over and over that a decision is coming, only for it to never come is terrible and so unnecessary. I know its super fun to work for them, but I am completely turned off by how they've treated me and other candidates. It's April, interviewed in October, and they completely ghosted me smh.
