      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      24 Jun 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at WorldFirst in May 2020

      Interview

3 Stages interview 1. Talent guy who tries really hard to explain how wonderful his company is (Don't trust him read the reviews about this company by other developers who left their toxic culture.) 2. A Rude hiring manger who acts like he is on Top of the world(Don't believe me? check his bio in linkedIn "About me section") 3. Video call with 3 senior developers (The lead guy was friendly and nice but other 2 senior guys were annoyingly bad with pointless questions). This interview (3rd round technical) was the worst of its kind of experience. There was a Lead developer who was really courteous and nice and was asking all the genuine questions. But there were this 2 senior developers whose main motto is to grill and bully you. They ask you a question and when you answer it right they show an expression of disappointment and hurry onto another one, and when they ask you a question where you cant answer properly you see a big mocking grin on their face like (AHA I got you...) I don't understand what kind of people you keep on an interview panel. Laughing and ridiculing an incorrect answer is right? I mean not every one can answer all questions correct. This incident really made me feel bad and broke my confidence in the interview. Lots of questions around multithreading despite the fact that I clearly mentioned that I don't have a multithreading back ground(fin-tech) and its very evident from my CV . So the goal is to judge someone on an expertise that they don't really have? Their situational questions were so bad that you feel like they are just messing around. Questions around databases where scenarios are not even thinkable in a real world application. My advice to you guys dont waste your precious time and energy they are just sorting through. They do have a large interview panel so you might get lucky if you get some other group who were not bullies like these one. My suggestion to the interview panel have some consideration on the situation of an interviewee and be little empathetic, you can definitely ask difficult questions but you don't have to mock or laugh at them when they fumble a bit. Imagine yourselves in their shoes, one day you could be in their position on a job hunt or going through a difficult time.

      Interview

I received an email from their recruiter and he arranged the first meeting but Nobody shows up in the call! I did some followup and this time, they even didn't reply the email. Totally unprofessional! .... They also arranged a meeting for another project and after I explained my experience, when I asked the interviewer about the role and what should I exactly do in this job (because the job description wasn't clear) he became upset and said I think it is better to stop the interview! So just avoid this company, extremely unprofessional
