      Analyst Interview

      9 Jan 2018
      Anonymous employee
      Tallinn
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Wise (Tallinn) in Dec 2017

      Interview

The hiring process for the Analyst role involves 5 rounds (6 if you count the initial application). 1st Round: Brief interview / chat with the hiring manager. Questions revolved around current / past projects and a sample case. It's not too difficult. The questions are open ended but they are definitely looking for specific traits. 2nd Round: After the first round you receive a case study with data. The case study is fairly extensive and you have a lot of freedom to present your findings in whichever way you feel comfortable. The focus is on being able to analyse and find key information and present in a simple to understand manner while making effective use of visual tools. Also tests your ability with SQL 3rd Round: This round is with an analyst to have a deep dive into the case study and what you have submitted. As long as you have a clear rationale behind why you did or did not do certain things, you are okay. They also discuss possible alternatives to your suggestions and it gives you a good idea into some of the things the company is doing. 4th Round: The 4th round is to test for a cultural fit and mine was with two other people from the team I would be working in. Some more questions about your CV and motivations. They also explain in great detail what they are looking for and you need to have clarity of where you can fit and help. 5th Round; This is usually with a senior person and maine was with the Head of Analytics. More questions arund past projects. I was asked to describe certain statistical concepts in a non-technical manner which was interesting. We also went through a case over the call where you are challenged as to how you arrive at a decision. All in all the process is super interesting and gives you a really good idea of what your role would be like. If you don't like the case study or the cases, chances are you probably won't like the role. The best part is that none of it actually feels like an interview. The conversation is very casual and they make a lot of effort to make you comfortable which is awesome. Additionally, everyone was bang on schedule and the co-ordination from the recruiter was really good. The timeline can be a little frustrating as it takes a good two months to go through the process but I guess that helps them find the right people.

      Interview

Was directly contacted by the recruiter and asked to join a call with the manager. The manager arrived and just said:" let me tell you about our company and then you can tell me about yourself". No greetings, no interest in the candidate. I felt he had come with a decision in his mind already! I never felt he was interested in knowing my background as a team member. I will not work for someone like this.
