I applied through my school's resume forwarding system, and then updated my resume several days later. Within two days of that, I was sent a form rejection email. Then, two weeks later, they emailed me saying they wanted to interview me. Mind you, they also had already reposted the job at that point so they apparently didn't think the candidates that took the initiative to apply right away were good enough, but still wanted to string us along. It then took a full week just to set up an interview time. The interview itself was abysmal, with the partner and associate not at all interested in the process. It honestly felt like they were playing mind games with me.
After this debacle, I heard from other law students that this is typical of Williams Mullen. Last year, they cancelled the summer associate program after extending offers, with no pay at all. They then asked those same people to interview for a post grad job only 3-4 months later and made them go through the whole process, only to tell them that they were on a hiring freeze. Dodged a bullet.
