      Service Team Leader Interview

      24 Apr 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      State College, PA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Wegmans Food Markets (State College, PA) in Mar 2018

      Interview

Wegmans had a prompt response to my application and, through the entire process, they were very communicative. I particularly appreciated that within a few days of the final interview they informed me that I was no longer being considered for the position. I was a little stern in salary negotiations- no regrets- I was surprised at how minimal the compensation was considering their positive reputation. I wish they had clearly posted the expected compensation to save everyone time. I had two telephone interviews, both of which were extremely robotic. The questions were highly script and often only involved a yes or no answer. Only a few of the questions required any sort of creative answer. Questions such as- 'Can you preform stated duty X' or 'Would you prefer to work in X department or Y department' or 'Are you okay with repetitive movement' or 'Can you work nights and weekends' Apparently these questions were so important they had two ask them twice! Once on the application and again in a telephone interview. Overall positive- if only because of their prompt communication.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Wegmans Food Markets

      Interview

This is BY FAR the best interview process I have had. Everyone is super friendly, kind, and have opened minds. I applied through college and met the recruiter at a career fair. She was super nice and explained all of the job responsibilities right off the bat. I was then asked to come in for an on campus interview which was about 30 minutes. This was a very easy and comfortable interview. It was more of a conversation, description of the job, and to make sure you are comfortable performing all of the duties the job requires. After that I was invited to do a second interview with someone from HR and two department managers. They were all so friendly and make me feel really comfortable. This interview was a little longer and the questions were a little more difficult, but they were still really easy questions compared to other interviews i have had. They just want to get a feel of your management experience, how you handle customers, and if you can do all of the duties the job requires. I then did a quick tour of the front end of the store. I was called in for a third interview with the store manager. He, again, was super nice! He asked similar questions like the second interview and it was a lot more informal. He just wanted to meet a potential employee before hire! I was extended the offer, but i had to politely decline as I just accepted one with another company that aligned more with my interests. I felt bad declining because everyone is so nice, helpful, and positive. Wegman's is a great company that really cares about their employees and customers ! Anyone would be lucky to get this position!

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What was a difficult situation you had with a customer ? Describe your management style? When have you gone above and beyond for a customer? What do you think the hardest part of the job is? How much do you think this job pays? How would you handle a safety situation?

      Interview

Typical interview, situational questions, all about developing others. It does take them forever to make a decision, they even longer for them to get you into the role you applied for.
