The job title for the job posting was vague; it seemed they would take an intern or an entry-level employee depending on their needs. They called me out of the blue on a Friday, a few days after I sent a general application. It was someone who was in a higher up supervisor role.
We had a great conversation and she wanted to set up an in-person interview with me and “the team.” I told her which dates in the near future worked for me, and we ended our call with her telling me she would for sure get back to me on the following Monday or Tuesday.
Of course, I never heard back from her by then. I called a week after she told me she would get back with me, and the only person I ever talked to was a secretary who told me the person was busy/out of the office.
I finally got an email from the supervisor saying that if she didn’t get back to me by the end of the day, to call her at her direct line. She also said that they had been “sorting through a lot of applications” which is funny to me considering they’ve had this vague job posting on their site for as long as I can remember (there was no “spring/summer” or “fall/winter” intern language, etc.). So I called the number, and yet again she was out of the office.
I never heard from them again regarding the job. I’m frustrated because this supervisor’s behavior and lack of professionalism doesn’t match with the high interest she had in me as a candidate—she reached out to me out of the blue; I did not ask for a phone or in-person interview. Flaky to say the least.
