      Technical Writer Interview

      26 Jul 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Mountain View, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Waymo (Mountain View, CA) in Apr 2019

      Interview

The interview started out with a misfire -- I was scheduled to meet with four people, but three were unavailable, so I ended up dealing with just one guy. Our exchange went well enough -- 20 minutes of standard questions, followed by a 20-minute writing test -- but their post-interview behavior struck me as shady. At the end of the meeting, he told me I'd be invited back for the next phase. Two weeks went by, then three, then four... complete silence. The staffing agency didn't seem to know what was going on either. It wasn't until I contacted an employee I personally knew that I found out they went and gave the job to someone else. Breaking one's word and leaving a candidate hanging seem like actions of a thoughtless, inconsiderate company. Am I wrong?
