      Risk Analyst Interview

      18 Mar 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Toronto, ON
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Wave (Toronto, ON) in Oct 2020

      Interview

Very promising but disappointed!! Wave team was very impressive, I applied online, received a call for a phone interview within a week and there were 2 rounds of interviews, the first with the Director and the final one with the manager and team lead. They said they would hire me but due to a budget cut, they had to go into a hiring freeze and they will contact me later. Been 6 months now, I can see they hired a lot of people but I received no response from them even after sending them a follow-up email. Not saying, I should have been hired but proper communication was expected.

      Risk Analyst Interview

      2 Apr 2021
      Anonymous employee
      Toronto, ON
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Wave (Toronto, ON) in Feb 2021

      Interview

TL;DR: I had a total of three rounds. First, I had a phone screen with the best HR rep in the world, followed by a combined behavioural interview and technical interview round, and a final technical interview round. The last round might have been a tie-breaker. If it was, I won! Wave basically has the best P&C team and it made the interview process very enjoyable. The company also focuses on hiring only the best, so if you're really good at what you do, you'll have an interview that you'll enjoy immensely - I did! :) ______________x________________ A few days before the phone screen, the HR rep sent me an email with important links on company culture that they wanted me to go through before the interview process began. Now if you know anything about interviews, you know that this is basically interview gold. The fact that they made the effort to educate me at all showed me that they genuinely valued my time and wanted me to succeed at this interview. Oh, did mention that the email pretty explicitly mentioned that too? While the questions in the phone screen were pretty standard, i.e., past experience, resume, and fit, I'd never spoken to anyone else in the HR round who sounded like they actually loved doing their job before. Their winning attitude not only put me at ease, but helped me respond with equal gusto. Within 10 minutes of our call, said HR rep got in touch with the Risk team and set me up for an interview. Now I've waited anywhere between 2 weeks to 3 months to hear back after this round. It felt like an absolute breath of fresh air to get such a quick response. The next interview was booked for the next week. A day after the HR screen, the HR sent me an email with answers to all the burning questions candidates usually have at this point - what to wear, what to prepare, what kind of questions to expect, how to present yourself, if there's going to be any feedback, AND tips to tailor your interview prep for the next round. At this point, they'd made it so easy to ace this interview, I almost felt like I could not fail. The next round, as with most pandemic interviews was a zoom video interview. Now I've had a few of these before, and like everything else with Wave, I've never had such a smooth zoom interview. The interview was structured to have 2 sections. The first 30 min, I spent with the manager of the team and a senior team member. It was a behavioural interview and I've never felt more at ease during an interview. It felt so casual, I borderline thought that they were just playing and the real interview was yet to come. Before I knew it, we'd blown past the first section! The second section was with two team leaders. This was a technical interview, with Risk-scenarios and knowledge based questions. Every step of the way, both the interviewers ensured I was relaxed and gave me all the space I needed to give the best interview I could. And just like that, the second round was over. As usual, the HR rep followed up with me to ask how my experience was and to see if there was anything amiss. A week later, I was invited to another round. They told me that this was going to be a quick technical only round, and even answered the questions I had about why this round was being held. The third round was a quick half hour, 5 question interview with slightly more complex scenario based questions. Three days after this, I was offered the position!
