I emailed the GM my resume, along with a page detailing my experience in the outdoors, and my education transcript because my work history is short. He got back to me in about 10 days (beginning of April) and we set up a time to meet. The GM and another senior guide talked with me for about 30 minutes. The first half was standard questions like why you want to work for them, your current stage in life, and what your experience is with the outdoors, especially in Central Oregon.
Then the questions got much more focused. I was asked about my favorite plants, my knowledge of the geologic natural history of the PNW & central oregon, and flora & fauna of the same region. It would be a good idea to do some research about the company and brush up on your pacific NW & oregon knowledge base.
If I am asked back for a second interview I will meet with the GM and the owner, and need to "wow" them with flora/fauna anecdotes, need to be able to correctly portage an 80lb canoe, and drive/back up a trailer.
