I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Waitrose (Wantage, England) in Sept 2019
Interview
Group interview process. I was interviewing with about 10 other people for a range of different roles. They had some role play group activities to assess customer service skill level and then one-on-one interview.

Question 1
What would you say if you didn't have a product that a customer wanted?
Pretty easy, just asked about experience and strengths. Then did a group exercise where we had to prioritise tasks. Then we had to talk about why we chose certain things and what impact it had on sales
The recruitment process comprised of one online task, one round of in-person group tasks (based on real life scenarios) and then a one to one interview. The online task, in-person group tasks and one to one questions were straightforward.
Short initial interview with typical questions asked during any other behavioural interview. Might have been an initial online screening asking about how you are in the workplace and your personality.
Hiring manager was very friendly and patient.
