I was applying for the entry-level news producer position. Part of the standard procedure is a writing test to ensure you can actually write news in a conversational tone for television. I had done several before this one, where they give you 2 hours to write and format the assigned stories the way they want you to. It was a shock when 13abc told me to devote 8 hours to look for my own stories, write them all up and submit them. It was such a broad request with no direction. I valued my time too much to go through with it just for them to possibly decline me anyway.
