      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Vertafore (Denver, CO) in Jul 2017

      Interview

Interesting - not necessarily negative, but be prepared to hurry up and wait. I submitted my application the 3rd week of May. 24 hours later, I received an email asking me to take a personality and aptitude test (pretty sure it was the Wonderlic test, which is used by a lot of other companies, too). I then heard nothing for three weeks, when a recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn asking if I would be interested in applying for a QA job at Vertafore. I sent her a quick email back explaining I had already applied and taken the personality test but heard nothing back. Less than 48 hours later, I was scheduled for a video interview with her. The video interview was pretty simple - same test again and a nice chat about the company, the team, etc. Was I thrilled about taking the same test again? Not really, but it was no big deal, and the recruiter and I had a few laughs about it. I then had a phone interview with the hiring manager the next day, and that was a really positive conversation. We didn't just discuss my qualifications, but we talked a lot about what I would call cultural fit. There was no question I would be a good cultural fit there. The manager explained that the recruiter would call to schedule my in-person interview soon. He did about a week later. So, what happened and why no offer? I actually received an offer from another company I was also interviewing with before we could meet for an in-person. I think if Vertafore hadn't lost my application in a black hole back in May, I would have made it through the process faster, and maybe I would be an employee here. They were simply too slow with their process.

      Question 1

A lot of cultural fit questions - how would you handle conflict, competing priorities, etc.

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Vertafore in May 2017

      Interview

This was the most frustrating interview process I have experienced. They asked me to take a 15 minute assessment and then retake it when somebody watched me over zoom. This was in the first week of May. They told me they would have a result in a day or two. A week goes by and no response. When I emailed them, I was told that they want to move forward with my application and they just want to find out when the interviews are being conducted. Two more weeks of no communication, so I ask if they found out about the interviews. I am then told that the interviews will be conducted in June because the training will start from July 10th. Mid June comes and goes with no communication. So I email them, which is now ignored. A week later, I call to ask what's up and even that is unanswered and my voicemail is ignored. When I call again another week later, they tell me the team is scheduling interviews on 28th and the 29th of June and I should expect an email. 29th of June, I get an email saying they decided not to move forward.

      Interview

I applied online and the process took 1+ week Interview Details – Recruiter emailed me fairly fast after I applied. Phone interview was setup with the Recruiter and then there was a phone Interview with the manager. Then there was an onsite interview setup for early next week. When I arrived the front desk attendant was very nice and my interviewer came to greet me on time. The HR had sent me a schedule with all of my interviewers and times but that was not followed during the course of the interview process. Everyone was nice enough but they lacked professionalism. It was surprising to know that all of a sudden one of my interviewers needed to travel, so that round will happen some other day! Also felt the person taking the technical interview was really inexperienced.
