I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Version 1 in Jun 2024
Interview
Recruiter reached out to me. A technical interview was arranged for within a week later via Video Call.
The interviewer was friendly and professional, initial questions were more scenario based and how one would handle themselves in particular situations which was straightforward, however the technical questions were strangely framed, more of a conversation to try and catch you out.
Also the recruiter said the role was hybrid based out of one city but the main interviewer stated the role was for a completely different city, not sure if a red flag or miscommunication. I was rejected within 24 hours, they provided sufficient and helpful feedback via email. Overall it felt like they had already picked their candidate at that point and were just going through the motions to be polite.
Give them a chance if you think the salary is good.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Version 1 (London, England)
Interview
Reached out by recruiter. 1st stage is screening call with the recruiter, typical questions about why you want to join them, salary expectations. One thing to note is all their roles require SC clearance and they'll ask you details about it. Next stage is tech interview which took them 1/2 weeks to organise. Tech interview with 2 tech leads, asked various questions. I answered them in enough depth and with confidence however they seemed uninterested and with their demeanour I could tell they were looking for a flaw or finding ways to trip me up. After this had a call with recruiter, they first totally lowballed me with a ridiculous offer and then later on saying you're not who we're looking for. It looked like a great company but the interviewers and their whole process really threw me off with their tone and demeanour. Waste of time to sum it up.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Version 1 (Belfast, Northern Ireland) in Sept 2024
Interview
Applied on linkedin first, filled in the job application, then arranged a chat with the recruiter for 15 minutes and then another interview with the hiring manager to discuss further. After that didnt hear anything for a while.
A waste of time really. The hiring manager had already the position filled by the looks of it as they probably had someone who could do it cheaper. I could tell as they didn't want to see any of my work (which is a red flag for a tech company since they are supposed to be excited by tech) and wanted to just rush through the process. It just felt like they where trying to catch me out on anything, just so they could then legally mark me down and say its a fair competition. The feedback received was not a fair reflection on what I said in the 'interview'. It was also pretty obvious to me the interviewer was using chat gpt to ask me questions off my cv, which was amusing in itself. Its the first developer interview where you didnt talk about code e.g. gang of fours, design patterns etc... This is another red flag. Think they are just after someone on a lo ball offer and not actual quality. Not so much a tech company, rather a glorified recruitment agency imho
