Interview
I had a phone interview then an in person interview. The phone interview was just for screening and the in person interview included questions about coursework and personality, nothing too technical.
After applying, I received a brief questionnaire via email from the recruiter. It contains 2-3 'STAR' based questions about the role. It also included 2-3 a few logistical questions about the role (salary range, relocation, etc.). After submitting this, I was booked for a virtual/remote interview via TEAMS. The recruiter and two senior engineers/engineering managers conducted the interview. The interview lasted about an hour and was primarily straightforward and expected. After initial pleasantries and introductions, I walked through my experience/resume, which seemed to answer many questions the interviews had prepared. Next, we spent time diving deeper into a few specific aspects of my knowledge.
All in all, the process here was very smooth and expected – no surprises. Otherwise, the interview hour was rounded out with some less technical questions and an opportunity for me to ask the hiring team questions. As far as interviews go, they were as straightforward and appropriate as one might expect. For the first interview, I left feeling content in knowing the role in more detail and determining if it was a decent technical fit.
