I spoke with a Verizon recruiter at a career fair about the projects they are working on and my resume. We saw a fit and I was given an interview next week. Verizon was very responsive and professional.

Question 1
The technical questions were not coding challenge based but rather describing a large scale problem Verizon is trying to solve and asking my approach to the problem.

The interview was ~2.5 hours long. It had a HR/ behavioural interview, followed by a 1 hour long maths and coding test (written on paper in the language of your choice) and a technical interview.

Started with an automated behavioral interview where you had to record yourself answering prompts. You got as much time as needed to prepare your answer. This was followed by an in-person technical interview in the Atlanta office.
