      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Venmo (Chicago, IL)

      Interview

After sending in my resume, I received an initial call a few days prior to Thanksgiving. I had missed the call and the person leaving the voice mail mentioned they would be out of the office the next few days for the holiday and would call back the following Monday if they did not hear from me. I tried calling back but was met with an answering machine so I left a voice mail agreeing Monday would work for me. I heard nothing until the following Wednesday, which I assumed was due to catching up with post holiday work. Again, this employee called me at a bad time and I had to try to call back, again being met with an answering machine. I left a voice mail advising what days/times I would be available to take a call. Two days later I get a call after the time I specified would work for me but I made myself available so we could stop playing phone tag. The employee told me they were calling because they wanted to set up a time so we could talk details of the position and the. schedule an initial interview. It took 2 weeks to not set up an interview as I expected but to set up a time to talk about setting up an interview. Wanting to be flexible I agreed and we set up a time. After the pre-interview we finally scheduled an initial interview. At this point, it had been 3 weeks since this entire process began. On the day of my interview I get a call an hour before my scheduled time from the interviewer asking we reschedule my interview, giving no explanation as to why. Again, trying to be agreeable, I say yes and we schedule my interview for the next week. The day of my interview comes and the initial employee who called me reaches out telling me we have to reschedule AGAIN because the interviewer had the stomach flu. Obviously this is something that can be controlled so once again I agree to a new day. Three days later I get a voicemail saying my interview has been cancelled because they filled all of their spots. They graciously offered to move my information into the next pool for potential candidates for their spring training. This entire ordeal of run arounds and bureaucracy took four weeks just for them to tell me they wont interview me after all. Initially I was understanding as holidays throw a kink into regular work days but other companies I have spoken with were efficient and organized using email to set up interviews and avoided the headache of week longs phone tag. After such a drawn out and frustrating process I fee like I dodged a bullet with Venmo. No desperation could make me work for a company this disorganized and unprofessional.

      Question 1

I wasn’t asked any interview questions because the company led me on for 4 weeks before canceling my interview completely.

      Interview

The interview was a phone interview basically like a preliminary to before having an in-person interview. They wanted to see if you're a good fit for the company which is a good way to kind of weed out people beforehand.
