I applied through university. I interviewed at Vanguard (Charlotte, NC) in May 2016
Interview
I found the position on my University's career website and applied online. I received an email a couple weeks later and scheduled a phone interview with Vanguard. The phone interview was fairly easy. Just a few questions about my resume and then some behavioral questions about how I reacted to difficult situations with a team in work/school. At the end of the phone interview I was invited to come in to the Charlotte office for a face-to-face interview. I thought this interview wasn't too difficult because HR did a great job of preparing me for what to expect. First hour was a general info session on the company and the benefits of working for Vanguard. The second hour I went into a conference room with one of the managers and we did a case study and then role play. The client needed to pull out money to pay for his daughter's tuition costs but there is a policy that requires money can't be withdrawn until 7 days after an address is changed in the system. Be sympathetic to the situation but also don't waiver in the company's policy. The third hour was with another manager at Vanguard and consisted of pretty basic behavioral questions (S.T.A.R. format). Finally there was an assessment test that is only used if the employee is hired. After the test I was shuttled back to the Charlotte Airport to fly home.

Interview
The interview was a two step process, the phone screen was about 15 mins and they were mainly looking for clarity of your voice and if you are articulate. The virtual 1-on-1 interview was fairly easy, about 6 STAR-based questions regarding customer service, communication skills, and learning agility.
