I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at VIPKid (New York, NY) in Oct 2017
Interview
I am in the interview process now and so far, I have had a very positive experience. I think the important component is to read and view everything they give you to really understand the process. Understand this is lengthy and takes time but really no different than prepping for an in person interview and some where they ask you to do mini teaching trials in a classroom. The first is a pre-screen - about 10 minutes or so. My guess is - this is really is to see if you are speaking English and can teach and have taken the initiative to at least look at the information and the lesson. I passed that, and set-up for the mock 1 lesson - which I did today. The interviewer was great and gave great feedback - both areas of strengths and to improve as well as general tips teaching in this format. I did prep a lot for this and used props and supplemental material, most of which I had around and spent about 8 dollars. Again, we as teachers are always buying materials for our classroom. I received an email a little while ago saying I passed the mock 1 and to schedule a mock 2, which I did for Monday and will add to this or repost to share how that goes. If you are thinking of interviewing- my suggestion would be to go on YouTube and watch the videos of those that passed and those that didn’t at different points in the interview. The information is very helpful and it also gives you an idea of the style they are looking for as well. Okay - this post won’t let me submit without picking - yes I accepted, yes but I decline, or no offer. Since I have not completed the process yet, I am selecting no offer for the purpose of this post and will revise that accordingly after Monday.
just a quick demo lesson following the course materials, then a few logistical questions and talk about the program. Was quite quick and easy overall if you have teaching experience..
Pretty simple! There was a live and recorded portion where you "teach" a sample class. My interviewer was nice and helpful. Make sure your internet is good and use a wired connection
Easy and straight forward interview process. There is a demo teaching section. This was a while ago so it may have changed. The onboarding process was also easy. Again, this was a while ago, so it may have changed.
