I had one round where the interviewer asked me generic questions about my background. Then I was moved on to a work assignment. After spending a good chunk of time completing the assignment, I never heard back from them again. I even followed twice by email and received no response.

Interview
I applied online and was quickly contacted for an interview. The questions I was asked had nothing to do with the position. I was briefly asked about my education and the interviewer spent most of the interview asking me if I was familiar with the areas of Brooklyn he enjoyed. It seemed like the company has prioritized "culture fit" over talent.

Interview
It is abundantly clear to me that an unspoken prerequisite to working at Upsolve is a wealthy upbringing and a prestigious university background. Questions were HEAVILY focused on "academic achievements." The person I spoke to seemed gobsmacked by the realities of the working class. Definitely more of a startup than a nonprofit.
