There were three rounds. The second one was with two actuaries. The last interview was a super day with several senior leaders. Be prepared with good questions and show that you can problem-solve and be a leader.

Applied online. 1) Almost immediately, was asked to fill out a questionnaire with additional information about my interest in the position, skills, exams, leadership experience, and other background info. 2) Was contacted within a couple days for a webcam interview with an HR rep. It was a very pleasant interview with more background questions and a few behavioral questions ("Tell me about a time when...."). Pretty conversational. 3) About a week later I was contacted for a second round interview, this time with a panel of actuaries, again through webcam. This interview was very awkward and the webcam software made for an uncomfortable experience because of the lag between video and audio. A lot of the questions were about leadership ability. 4) The next step was a leadership assessment conducted through a third party talent management organization in the form of an online questionnaire, in addition to an abstract reasoning test. 5) The next and final step is an on-site interview. I didn't make it this far - I was very honest in self-evaluating my leadership style - needless to say, it didn't match with what Unum was looking for. They are open about looking for leadership qualities in their actuaries. I was happy with the way they communicated this with me and overall with the way they conducted the interview process. They are quick in getting back to you about interviews and very good at communicating their expectations.
