      Vice President Interview

      17 Mar 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at United Way (New York, NY) in Aug 2021

      Interview

This interview was with the United Way NYC. The process was dreadful from top to bottom. I applied immediately after the position was posted, and received a screening interview immediately. About one week later I was interviewed by two people in the HR department. After this I was ghosted for weeks, and then was shocked to get invited back for another interview. I was on vacation when their HR department reached out about doing another interview, and when it took me longer than a few minutes to reply they reached out by phone as if this interview was somehow urgent. The interview was then scheduled for three weeks into the future. The interview was with a panel of people, none of which work directly with the position being filled. They asked me all kinds of off-topic questions about random things, sometimes even saying they weren't going to judge me by my answers. So why waste all this time with these questions? After this, again weeks went by before I heard from them again. I was then invited for a final round interview and told that I would get a decision the following week. Weeks came and went and I heard nothing. I followed up by email twice with their HR department and was consistently told that the position had not yet been filled and that I was still being considered. After a month, I gave up. It's now been four months and the position still hasn't been filled, I was never notified, and the position is still posted. It's been nearly a year since the position was first posted.

      Interview

Series of interviews required. Some interviewers seemed disengaged. Many described significant changes underway and cultural transformation which seemed like it may be stressful. Panel interviews included many situational leadership questions where they wanted detailed examples from other employers/clients/customers.
