It started with various examinations before the interview including myers briggs, then arriving the day of the interview receiving more wonderlic testing. Coming from academia I spent a long time researching and presenting how useless these tools really can be for job performance but they clearly put lots of emphasis into them. The actual interview started normal. I started trying to get more information about their needs and they couldn't provide me any. I asked about upcoming training that is needed and instructional approaches, they told me they don't have any needed training. I tried to get information about needs assessment, they told me they don't need for me to be doing needs assessment. I tried to asking and discussing performance analysis and performance gaps, they told me that is not needed. This continued as I wondered, if there is no training needed, no performance management, no needs assessment, no evaluations needed.... then what would they want me to be doing.... The next question out of the interviewer was, so if we hire you, what will you do day to day. I was at a loss because it appeared they did not know what they wanted, they were unable to give me any expectations. This position continued to appear on job boards for years, may still be available. They have refined the posting details in that time.
