I applied online. I interviewed at USI Insurance Services in Sept 2022
Interview
Phone screen with recruiter who told me that the position was looking for someone with over a year experience with Power BI and Tableau which was not stated in the job posting. I replied with saying that I have strong knowledge of making visualizations in Python and Rstudio, in addition to my knowledge of SQL. So considering my skills in these areas, I had the recruiter tell me that I have extremely little experience and am considered very entry level and would be compensated lower than expected.
I attempted to highlight my strengths to counter what was not on the job posting but it seemed that their mind was made up already. After all that they then asked me, "do you know excel?" to which I was appalled and confused that they would ask. I told them that of course I know excel, and wondered how that compares to the other three software programs I know.
The recruiter barely asked about my prior work experience and only wanted to know about my degree. The questions asked my the recruiter were very run of the mill.
