      PSE Clerk Interview

      21 Jul 2011
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at US Postal Service in Jul 2011

      Interview

I applied for a PSE CLERK online and was scheduled for an assessment exam right away. I passed the assessment exam in May 2011 and did not hear anything until the middle of july 2011. I was then given an interview date and several forms to fill out for a background check and drug test. I completed the background check and drug test before I stepped my foot in the door for the interview. I was sent several emails and detailed instructions on how to proceed with the interview; where to park. which door to use, no big bags allowed or children in the building; very secret service. Just imagine the shock I felt arriving there and seeing 50 other people waiting for an interview. Once you enter the building you are told to find your name on the list and sign in. Upon finding your name you also notice that your assessment results are listed right next to your name so everyone can see who got what. At this point I was given maybe 30 or 40 pieces of paper work to fill out (w2 forms, tax papers, etc..). Once all your paperwork is completed you are then sent into another room where you wait for somebody to interview you. I waited 30 minutes and then a man came into the room and yelled is anyone here for atlantic county, I was in shock because you would think they would atleast call your name. I thought okay the economy is bad I need a job I'll just go along with this. Once I got into the interview room I noticed there were 5 other people interviewing as well. So I then asked my interviewer what was going on and he told me the post office is now holding open interviews and that he is a postmaster and he was asked to come help with the interview process for atlantic county. He then told me this is a general interview and that once I leave he will give me a score and all the other postmasters and bosses will sit down and decide if they can use me in there office. So if I am lucky enough to be selected I could be working anywhere at anytime. Although it was a crazy experience, the interview went pretty well the questions were basic and pretty straightforward. However the fact that five other people could hear every word coming out of your mouth is very hard to ignore but if you want the job you just have to try to tune them out. It has been two weeks since my interview and I havent heard anylthing yet. Getting kinda worried because after all there were 50 other people there interviewing.
