      I applied online. I interviewed at UNICEF (Harare) in Jan 2016

      The technical written test required me to demonstrate my knowledge on Education statistics and analysis. From a given data I was expected to compute Net Enrollment Ratios,Gross enrollment ratios and Gender Parity Indexes and then do a trend analysis. The other essay-type questions elicited my understanding and knowledge on quality education indicators

      This was a competency based question where I was required to demonstrate the competency on Formulating Strategies and Concepts. Tell me about a time when you had to translate a work-related strategy into actions and plans. • What did you specifically do that was effective? • How did you know that your plans were clear enough to be implemented? • What would you do differently in hindsight? 2. Tell me about a time when you were involved in developing a strategy for your department or organization. • What was your role? • How did you approach this situation? • Who else was involved? • What challenges did you experience? • How did it turn out? 3. Tell me about a situation when you had to ensure that a particular project within your department was aligned with organizational strategy. • Why was this important? • How did you approach the situation? • What was the outcome?

Give me an example of an occasion when you recognized a development need in one of your direct reports. • How did you recognize this development need? • What did you do? • How did the person respond? • What was the outcome? 2. Describe a time when you experienced challenges in leading and managing a team. • Why was this situation particularly difficult? • What did you do to get the team on board with your direction? • What was the end result? • What did you learn from this experience? 3. Tell me about a time when you recognized a skill gap in your team as a whole. • What was the gap and why was this skill necessary in your team? • What did you? • How did the team respond? • What was the result?

Describe a time when it was particularly important for you to adopt a results-based approach to your work. • Why was a results-based approach particularly important in this situation? • What changes did you institute to meet this requirement? • How did you monitor progress? • What challenges did you come across? • What was the end result? 3. Tell me about a time when you pushed yourself and your team to meet a particularly demanding goal. • Why were these goals particularly demanding? • How did you approach it? • How did you ensure the goals were met? • What was the outcome?
