I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at U.S. News & World Report
Interview
After a brief email exchange, I had a phone interview. The call was pleasant and seemed more about explaining the company structure than interviewing me, however I was asked briefly about my experience.
A few days later, I received a 2 part coding test. First part was to develop a simple web server, second part was working on a frontend problem. I was given 3 business days to finish the assignment, but as it was pretty simple i finished in about an hour.
I was then scheduled for a tech interview, also via phone. During my initial interview, I was asked what my availability was in the coming weeks, and I specifically stated a week in which I would be away travelling and not easily available to interview. HR didn't really seem to take this into account and scheduled my interview for while I was travelling anyways.
The technical interview went well IMO. He didn't ask about my code in depth, but we discussed what stack they were working with and how I would fit into the company.
The next day or so I received an email that they were going to go forth with alternative candidates. I was never given any feedback, technical or otherwise. Felt like a waste of time. Other interview reviews seem to also have stated problems with not getting any feedback, so I wasn't surprised.
