I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Truett-Hurst (Healdsburg, CA) in Apr 2017
Interview
I interviewed at Truett-Hurst for an Accounting Manager job. The Controller came down to the lobby in jeans and a t shirt and took me to the employee break room. In limited, but understandable, English, he asked me to tell him my qualifications. I gave him my standard 2 minute rundown, which fit his posted job requirements exactly, actually a bit beyond. He looked at my resume and said, “You have no SEC experience. I cannot hire you. There is no point in continuing.” I acknowledged I had no SEC experience, and politely tossed the issue around a bit to see if it was a deal breaker, which he said it was. I then pointed out that I had driven 85 miles (each way) for the interview (not to mention my time prepping/researching) and all that waste could have been avoided with a phone call, a preview of my resume (which had been provided days ahead), or putting the SEC experience in his posted job requirements. At which point he just stared at me blankly, and then walked me to the lobby door. No apology for my wasted time, nothing.
Not the strangest thing I’ve ever seen in an interview, but certainly the most rude.
This one negative experience does not mean Truett-Hurst is a bad place to work. But I would say it is a red flag.
