Question 1
How does your background make you a good candidate for this position?
I applied through university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Triangle Insights Group (Durham, NC) in Oct 2017
Interview
First Round: ~30 minute on-campus interview at my university with an engagement manager
The interview began with a few behavioral questions aimed at understanding my leadership and teamwork experience in addition to providing me a chance to express interest in consulting, life sciences, and the Triangle company culture.
Final Round: ~5 hour in-office super-day at the Durham location
The day began with two ~1 hour 1-on-1 casual conversations with firm partners (to assess behavioral fit and give me a chance to ask about their vision for the company).
Following these interviews, I was given a life sciences case prompt by a junior team member and had a couple minutes to ask clarifying questions before being left alone in a conference room with the prompt for about an hour. During this hour, I was expected to either build a powerpoint slide or draw out a visual aid on a whiteboard to support my presentation. After about an hour, I presented out my findings and recommendation to a partner and an engagement manager while they asked a few questions to assess my thought process and provide feedback.
Finally, I was taken to lunch by two junior team members who were able to give me a rundown on their experience with the firm.
Overall, I enjoyed the interview process and found it to be unique and more engaging than my other interview experiences with competitors in this field. I did receive and accept an offer from the firm within ~2 weeks of the final interview.
