      VP of Finance Interview

      20 Apr 2026

      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I interviewed at Trellis Company (Round Rock, TX)

      Interview

The process started with a remote interview with the CFO and HR, followed by an in-person meeting with HR and two team members, with the CFO joining remotely. I was also asked to prepare a presentation for a five-person panel with limited context. In practice, the presentation was given minimal time and emphasis during the interview and was only with the same two individuals. In hindsight, I would recommend spending less time on that component and focusing more on understanding the company’s operating structure. Overall, the process felt somewhat disjointed. The CFO came across as genuine, engaged, and clearly passionate about both the work and the team. HR, on the other hand, had a more formal and somewhat intimidating presence. Following the interview, I was told multiple times that I would be updated on next steps, but I was never notified that they had decided not to move forward. That lack of follow-up felt inconsistent with the company’s stated commitment to professionalism, and transparency.
