I have only been through what the manager called "An Informal Interview". He broke down every responsibility that would belong to the Assistant Manager, the conversation took more than an hour to complete and I had to unfortunately interrupt him (I was on a lunch break and needed to get back to my current job) which he was very understanding about. It has basically been put into my hands to let him know if I want to continue the interview. If yes, he has to set up interviews by telephone with 2 other store managers and the district manager. And they would all have to agree that I am a suitable candidate for the position. I have not contacted him yet, do to many elements. I was originally looking into the position because I was informed that it would be salary pay and benefits. This manager informed me that the company no longer paid assistant managers with salary, but they had to be hourly working anywhere from 30 hours to POSSIBLY 40 hours a week.

3 Interviews. One with the store manager of the store I would be working at. Another interview with the store manager of a different store in town who has run his store for a long time. Finally, and interview with the District Manager. They were all very casual and about getting to know each other and personalities and whether or not I would be a good fit. Talked about responsibilities and the nuances of the store I will be working at. Overall a good and thorough experience.

Interview
The interview process was pretty relaxed. The store manager was approachable and easy to talk to. The first interview was mostly about speaking to your retail management experience, which was followed by a tour of the store - the store manager did some quizzing on merchandising/ planograms. The second interview was with two additional store managers - talking about understanding P&L, sales, and operations.
Two separate interviews and one phone interview. First interview was with store manager. Second interview was manager and district manager. Job offer the following day. Entire process took a little over a week.
