Review: My Interview Experience at Toast My recent interview with Toast echoed many of the frustrations I’ve seen from other candidates. I interviewed with a young recruiter and right from the beginning, it was obvious that she wasn’t engaged at all. She immediately jumped into asking if I had any questions, which gave me the impression that she didn’t want to waste any energy explaining the role. It felt like she had already made up her mind before the interview even began and was just going through the motions because of a required post-interview survey. Her disengagement left me with zero excitement about the opportunity. It wasn’t because I lacked confidence—I have over 25 years of experience selling everything between heaven and hell. But her nonchalant, sleazy car-salesman attitude was unmistakable. To make matters worse, the job link she sent me had already been removed, leading me to believe there wasn’t a real position to begin with. Overall, it felt like a pointless exercise, as if the interview process was a façade. It’s disappointing to see recruiters treat the hiring process like this, and I hope Toast takes steps to improve the professionalism and transparency of their recruiting practices.
