      Restaurant Success Analyst Interview

      18 Mar 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Boston, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Toast Inc (Boston, MA) in Mar 2019

      Interview

I went through a 15 minute screening interview, and then I was asked to come to a 2 hour in-person interview. I was surprised that they spent so little time speaking to me on the phone before inviting me into the office, but I was glad to have the opportunity. When I arrived, there were several other people waiting in the lobby to interview as well. I spoke with three different people about the position, each one lasting 30 - 40 minutes. They mentioned that they are expanding really quickly and looking to double their team. It was my first in-person interview, and I didn't feel that great about it. One of the people who interviewed me was pretty intimidating and her reactions were completely unfiltered. It wasn't very pleasant. I left the interview feeling sort of ho-hum and expecting to receive bad news, but I still followed up with a thank you email for each of the interviewers. I received absolutely no response, not from any of the thank you emails, not from the recruiter, not from anyone. It seems like they are just trying to get as many people in for interviews as possible and that they don't really care about the people or following up in any real way. After rearranging my entire work schedule and after all the stress that goes into interviewing for a position, I expect the courtesy of a phone call or email to communicate the decision, even if it's not to move forward. Honestly, after the vibes I got from the interviewers I spoke to and after not hearing a word back, I'm glad that things didn't work out.

I’m sorry that this was your experience with our team! I know that interviewing can be nerve-racking, and I apologize that we didn’t set you up for success. We truly do care about candidate experience, and if you’re up for it, I’d love to chat with you about what happened so that I can make it right. Please reach out to me directly on LinkedIn if you feel comfortable discussing further. - Mike Brown, VP Talent
