I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Toast Inc (New York, NY)
Interview
Initial contact - November 2016
First Scheduled call - last week of November 2016 ( she rescheduled after calling 20 minutes late to a 30 minute call)
Second scheduled call - 2nd week of December 2016 ( Didn't call) and no response
today is January 17 - no response
after a couple of months of applying, they reached out to me to schedule a call that week, I selected my available times but recruiter didn't get back to me - no issues, I emailed her asking to confirm, after a week of doing so she scheduled a call for 30 minutes. she called 20 minutes late and asked to reschedule which I did and that's it- she never got back to me! no emails, no phone. I tried contacting them multiple times but never got any response. I even wrote to the Manager but never got any response.
This is the kind of experience no candidate wants to go through, I really loved what toast was trying to achieve but this is just not acceptable.

Other Software Engineer interview reviews for Toast Inc
Leetcode style 1 hr technical along with 1 hr behavioral with pretty standard questions. Interviewers were both really nice and hardest part of technical were the follow-up questions but the interviewer was very helpful.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Toast Inc (Dublin, Dublin) in Apr 2026
Interview
I scheduled a first round technical interview. Recruiter emailed 2 days later saying position filled. Very disappointing. Phone screen was good descriptive and helpful. Shoukd of flagged rolling hiring. Was for junior engineer role.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Toast Inc (Bengaluru) in Mar 2026
Interview
Overall, the interview experience was good, with questions ranging from a moderate to slightly challenging level. There were a total of four rounds, and the difficulty progressively increased with each stage. The initial rounds focused on fundamental concepts and gradually moved toward more in-depth problem-solving and advanced topics in later rounds. This progression allowed for a structured evaluation of both core understanding and the ability to handle complex scenarios.
