I had a pleasant first-round interview with an HR generalist and then proceeded to the next round with the hiring manager. Hiring manager and I were scheduled for 30 minutes and he spent the first 27 minutes talking about himself and continually mispronouncing the company name. He had a kind demeanor but the only question he asked me was about my background and experience. It must've been during that where he decided that something about me was not worth moving forward with because he parted with the words, "Regardless of what happens with this role, I'm not worried about you because you seem very bright and capable." I'm intuitive so I could sense the condescending lie, same vibe as when someone is trying to let you down easy.
Despite this, he said to still let the HR generalist know if I was still interested. I still was because it is definitely a job I could do because of not just my experience but also because I truly am bright and capable.
In any case, getting that far in the process, I ultimately deserved more than an automated rejection email to let me know they were no longer pursuing my candidacy. Seeing the other negative reviews on here about the company though, I clearly dodged a bullet.
Their website talks about a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion but I didn't see any minority staff. They did choose not to hire a minority with extensive DEI experience on the brink of homelessness though so there's that.
