After submitting my application for the position, I received an email from the recruiter requesting my availability for an interview. The email did not provide much information regarding the dress code, interview questions, or the interview process. The interview was conducted via Google Meets and involved the head of HR and one of the studio's heads. It was a relaxed conversation, and I noticed that the interviewers did not review my CV beforehand. Towards the end of the interview, I asked if there were any concerns regarding my experience or skills, prompting the head of HR to check my CV. Overall, the interview went well, and I had the impression that they were pleased with my performance. Before concluding the interview, I inquired about the next steps, and the head of HR mentioned that they would contact me on either Friday or the following Monday with additional information. They also mentioned that the next step would involve interviewing with the heads of the three UK studios. The next day, I received an email with logistical questions such as salary expectations and work authorization in the UK, which I found unusual as these were not addressed during the interview. Unfortunately, I did not receive any response or further communication from them within the expected timeframe. I followed up multiple times seeking more information and clarification on my application status. However, it was only after two weeks, and after I had already assumed they had lost interest, that the recruiter finally emailed me to inform me that they had decided not to proceed with my application.
When I applied for this position, I was enthusiastic about the opportunity because of my background in the tech/gaming industry and Thunderful's reputation as a people-focused company. However, I found my experience with them to be different from what they advertise. I didn't feel a sense of respect or value, which affected my perception of the company. During the interview, they asked me about the difference between HR in a gaming company and other companies. In my opinion, it should be the opposite of their approach. In the gaming community, we prioritize care and respect, and we don't treat people as expendable.
