I applied online. I interviewed at Thermochem (New York, NY)
Interview
I applied via a craigslist ad and got an email reply within a week to schedule an interview. Because I was not local to the area, I went through a phone screening with the lab manager and senior chemist and then a follow up tour of the lab facility. The tour is more to for them to gauge a sense of who you are / your personality, so make sure to ask questions!
The biggest thing that bugged me was that Thermochem had college interns who were doing more analytical chemistry work (aka running GC's and HPLC's + analysis) than the actual college graduate who was applying for full time employment work. Rare growth opportunities here because someone in the lab must leave in order for entry level staffers to move up the ladder. The lab itself is pretty big, but the lab team is maybe only 10 people max.
