Interview
HR contacted me after I submitted my resume. It was quite simple. Then I got another round with hiring manager for 45 minutes. They asked about the projects I've done before and told me the role and the team.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at The Washington Post in May 2021
Interview
I had a great interviewing experience that went along very quickly compared to other places I've interviewed with. I liked that my initial interview was with the Design Director rather than a recruiter which I believe allowed the interview process to go quicker instead of interviewing first with a recruiter and then team members afterward. After my interview with the Design Director, I met with that same Design Director with three other Design Managers for a 2-hour interview to present my portfolio and then answer behavioral questions related to the job role. The last phase after that was a design challenge that I was assigned and I met with the same managers to present my case study of the assignment. They reached out to me the following day to inform me that they were preparing an offer for me and that two other team members would like to briefly meet me (through Zoom). A recruiter called me after that (two days after presenting my case study) to provide me with an offer. The whole interview process took three weeks total and they were very open to working with my schedule as I worked full time. All my interviews took place via Zoom since this was for a remote role.
