      Strategic Communications Analyst Interview

      30 Aug 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at The State Group in Jun 2023

      Interview

Quick turnaround from application to first contact from a recruiter - less than 2 weeks, which was encouraging. Had a half hour phone screen the next day (video call via Teams) which seemed to have been received positively. Was told I would be moved along to the next step in the interview process. Was also advised that I'd receive an email with benefits and compensation information. (To date, I have not received this.) I was also told that the interview and hiring process would be fairly quick and straightforward - phone screen > hiring manager > decision. Easy peasy. About a week later, I was contacted by the recruiter and asked to complete two predictive index assessments. I completed these within 24 hours and let the recruiter know as much. Two weeks later, I received an email from the recruiter asking for my availability to meet with the hiring manager for a one-hour Teams meeting. I responded within a couple of hours and provided my availability for the following two weeks. That was seven weeks ago and, despite follow-up on my end, I have not heard anything further. I check my junk and spam folders regularly and I haven't received any phone calls or missed any voicemails. I find it incredibly tacky and unprofessional for employers and their recruiters to ghost applicants that they've met with face to face and have set specific follow-up timeframes with. It's absolutely all right to move on to another candidate or even decide to close a role or stop the interview process for any reason. Just...let your candidates know! Even a two-liner boilerplate email would have been more appropriate than silence.
