I applied via Indeed and recieved an email to fill out an online interview. The process took about an hour and went into detail about managing experience and knowledge. I was then emailed to set up an in-person interview. Communication leading to the in-person interview was painstakingly slow but once I was able to set a day and time, there were communication errors and the manager was unaware I was coming. She nicely performed the interview anyway. As this was for a store manager position I was ready to tackle questions about coaching, payroll, metrics, etc. This did not happen. It was as if I was interviewing for a line level staff position. I was also under the impression the position was for store manager so I brought 3 letters of recommendation endorsing me for the position only to find out during the interview that the job was for assistant manager. Ok, I wasn't expecting that but we can see where this is going and went with the interview process. Once the interview was completed, she informed me that she would be contacting me by the following Friday at the latest. That came and went and I decided to contact her that following Monday. She informed me that they had decided t ok go with an internal candidate for the position (very cool) but she would offer me a part time key holder position at $9 an hour. For those keeping score this went from store manager to assistant store manager to part time key holder... being offered that position coming from over 5 years in management was insulting. But I wish her well with the company (it really does seem like a great company for the community as there aren't very many options for great food for pets around here)
