Question 1
What is an XSS attack? What is a CORS? What is a CSRF attack?
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at The Media Trust (Tysons Corner, VA) in Aug 2019
Interview
initial steps were great.
applied, few days later I had a phone interview, then another.
The onsite was even great, the team seemed to like me, my experience and skills.
the follow up leaves a ton to be desired. As in, even if the job is offered at this point I won't take it, especially for the pay they were discussing.
"we will let you know by Monday, we will have everyone interviewed by then."
follow up the tail end of the week following, no response.
3 more calls the following week, which get ignored. One of which was a voicemail.
Sent an email over the weekend, took another week to hear "we are still interviewing people"
That email was nearly a month ago.
At this point they'd have to offer me double for it to be worth these games.
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at The Media Trust (Arlington, VA) in Oct 2017
Interview
I was interviewed at a recruiter's office.
The interviewer was the Software Development Manager.
The interview was bizarre. The interviewer had not taken the time to read my resume prior and did not appear to care as much as he preferred to talk about himself and the company.
He described their development methodology as 'PHP purists'. They prefer not to work with existing PHP frameworks, paradigms, or any PHP PSR Standards.
I immediately diagnosed them with an extreme case of "Not-Invented-Here Syndrome".
I also felt that this particular manager did not fully understand the service his company provided. The Media Trust provides ad auditing and ad compliance to online publishers to prevent malware from being distributed through their websites. I asked how they handled remarketing ads, where the ad seen on a website is completely dynamic and changes from person to person. The interviewer did not have a valid answer and did not know what remarketing was.
Overall, my experience with The Media Trust was negative. The interviewer was incredibly arrogant and had I received an offer I would have declined it immediately.
My advice to the company is to modernize your development stack. The interviewer let it slip that they were several major versions behind on PHP, which opens them up to substantial security issues. How they would pass their own audit is beyond me.
