I interviewed at Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts
Interview
I came into contact with the recruiters at a career fair and was told to submit a online application. I did so and was contacted for an interview. The interview was quite intimidating, testing me on my knowledge of accounting principles, auditing procedures, financial statement analysis and ability to write a memo. They hire bright, confident individuals who know their stuff. Go into the interview well prepared on your accounting principles as well as with research/questions you may have about the the Comptroller. I got an email a few weeks later asking me for my fingerprints so a background check could be made. After that, I was offered the job.
I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts (Houston, TX) in Nov 2011
Interview
The interviewers were separated into teams and you were interviewed by one of the teams. You then had to write a business letter and do some accounting samples. Then you were asked questions about how you would solve problems, how you got along with people and if you could stick to deadlines.
