I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Tesla in Sept 2024
Interview
The process started with an HR screening, followed by a test and a first technical interview. I cannot say how long the process was supposed to last, as during the first technical interview, I was given 30 minutes to present 3 projects, but the interviewer arrived 15 minutes late. This left me with less than 10 minutes, after which he apologized for having another meeting and ended the session.
Perform a test, Screening by Manager and then up to six intense 1on1s with engineers testing whole range of power electronics from Devices, topologies, magnetics controls, emc. Then 1on1 with group Manager. After everything is passed you have to write a letter showcasing your excellence to be reviewed by the CEO

Interview
Overall, this process was a joke. It was one of the worst and least professional experiences for having an interview for potential application in engineering and in general a complete waste of time… After several weeks of interviews, discussions with staff members, I was provided a set of examinations. After some time, I inquired regarding the outcome of the exam, and was told that I would not qualify and would need to return should there be a more suitable time to re-apply. While the interview with the staff was trivial, I didn’t believe the examination wasn’t difficult as it was comprised of relatively trivial problems to solve (basically standard EE textbook questions) . However, I believe I was assessed and ultimately marked unfairly as they were unable to provide comprehensive or any remotely intelligent feedback whatsoever. Despite my efforts to follow up with them, their recruiter remained distant and it was very difficult for me to even apply for other positions. (Essentially, I was ghosted after this point in the process. Very unprofessional.) On a deeper level, it demonstrates a fundamental issues with innovation in general. Save yourself the effort and apply somewhere more reliable and worth your time…
