I was referred to NorChem by a school friend. I emailed my resume and cover letter in November, but didn't hear back until January (presumably for budget reasons). The let me schedule my own interview, which I felt was pretty nice. I was very sick the days before the interview and thought about rescheduling, but I did not. The HR manager was out sick, so I was interviewed by the senior lab technicians (who would have been there anyway). The interview process was very relaxed and they asked me basic behavioral questions (tell me about yourself, what kind of work environment do you like) and some basic technical questions (how to you maintain attention to detail, how are your typing skills). After the interview, we toured the lab. This lab is not like the labs I worked in during University -- they describe it as a "production lab." You have one job or set of tasks, and you do it repetitively and you need to do it very fast. A degree in a "life science" can get you further with the company as a lab tech.
