      Product Specialist Interview

      28 May 2016
      Anonymous employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at TalentBin (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2014

      Interview

There was a phone screen and a written response portion. Then they have you a mock call with a customer to get a sense for what your day to day will look like, followed by another interview, possibly more. I got a good sense of what I would be doing in my day to day which is super important in a job interview. Overall it was pretty informative and well ran.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at TalentBin (San Francisco, CA) in Jun 2016

      Interview

Disappointment is probably how I feel about the whole interviewing process. It all started around June/July, I received a phone call from the manager regarding their opening. It was mainly just a discussion regarding my background and what they are expectations are for the role. After the phone call, I received an email from the manager regarding a homework assignment. The assignment was revolved around how I would respond to a certain customer situation. After that, I had to do a simulation with the manager and that was suppose to give me a feel about what the day to day is like within the role. After that, I was invited onsite to meet with the manager, his boss, a potential teammate and also a person on another team. Two days prior to the onsite, I received an email from the manager that he will not be in the office so his Team Lead will take his place. Since I didn't get a chance to meet with the manager, he asked that him and I go meet casually at a coffee shop a few days later. After the meeting, the manager asked that I fill out an application online and also provide reference checks. At this point, I felt good going into the last few steps of the process. It took a few weeks to get the background/reference check to get done. After following up a few times, I received a message from the manager telling me that all the checks had clear BUT there's a slight hiccup within the whole hiring process and unfortunately, they don't have a timeline on when they will be able to get back to me. To top it off, the manager was going on leave for about six weeks. I've been told to follow up two weeks later to check on the status. I did that and they had no updates for me at all. Another two weeks go by, I followed up and was once again told nothing has changed. I was leaving for a trip the day after the manager was suppose to be back at work so I decided to send him a quote follow up note. I knew that he probably had a lot to catch up with since he's been out of the office for awhile. Two weeks went back and when I checked my email, I didn't see anything from them so I decided to follow up again. Right after I hit "send", I received an email saying he is no longer at the company. I then reached out to his Team Lead and he asked me to follow up with his boss. I did that and was asked to wait another few weeks. A week ago, I decided to follow up one last time. I received an email today saying their focus has shifted and will revisit the opening again some time soon. Overall, it was a very long process. I understand there are things that happen within the company that is beyond certain manager's control, but it was a painful process knowing I turned down other offers and ended up not getting anything.

I'm really sorry about your experience and that we didn't do right by you. With the company acquisition and people going out on leave we tried to be transparent and I know I personally should have been more proactive with updates. - Bill

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at TalentBin (San Francisco, CA) in May 2014

      Interview

      1. One page written screen (really just to see how you think and write) 2. 30 minute phone interview with the Hiring Manager. 3. Product Simulation to see how you handle yourself in a "live phone scenario" (also helps you gauge whether you will enjoy the role). 4. 2-3 30 minute in person interviews onsite.
