      Allocation Analyst Interview

      2 May 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Mississauga, ON
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at TJX Canada (Mississauga, ON) in Apr 2018

      Interview

I applied in mid-march, finally got an automated email in 3rd week of April, requesting for an online interview- this basically required getting videotaped on their online portal. They will have about 9 to 10 question, out of that only 3 will be videotaped while you reply, and again 1 out of those three will be ratio question, which you will have to solve on the spot. After 1st online interview, next day I received another automated email requesting to complete one more test, Approx. 60 online questions (have three days to complete) All were multiple choice - more on behavioral (like a psychometric test) and only 9 or 10 questions were mathematical. (I think math saved me here because talking to wall was new two me so I think I stuttered at times.) Meanwhile, I had not even started this test that I got another email but this time from the HR requesting me for an in person interview for an hour. This was great & agreed to meet on Monday. But I was not sure if I have to complete this 2nd test. However, after contemplating for three days, I did finish the exam on Sunday (third day) because I was scheduled for an interview on Monday, so dint want to take chances. Plus I was sure I knew that answers. Now on Monday, HR had prepared few set of questions- well this is the funny & distracting part, I was expected to answer each question verbally ( by talking about it) , HR interviewing you was handwriting the entire conversation ( basically your life is on that paper & how she writes) all I could see was an extremely bad handwriting & wonder if she is able to write correctly because as far as I know verbal & written answers format is always different. But not just that, it was also nerve racking as I was not sure if she was understanding what I was saying while paying attention to writing as I spoke. I can’t possibly speak slowly my thoughts nor could I speak fast because I wanted her to write correctly, basically it will put you in dilemma. Well after a polite closer to the interview of an Hour I went home and prayed to god that i get it. While, it was hard for me to believe that i just met a human robot- because she was nice and comforting but at the same time i was only wondering if she was getting what I said, as all I could remember her do was just keep hand writing. Finally, on Wednesday I get an automated, that I did not get through this whole process. I was confident, I had all my online answers correct infact to an extent that I felt I have probably topped it :) But I guess it was my years of experience in buying as a buyer that did not think of me as a right fit as one remark she did give me that you are a lot into buying. and I told her yes, that’s one area I have been working for about 8 years but since now I am in Canada, it would be good for me to start from the planning side as it would give me a good insight of Canadian market & also it will help me be a better senior planner for future as I would have a complete wholesome experience. However, if my buying background was the reason then they should have been upfront with me from the start and not having me to put through two weeks of working. Although, I don't think that could be the matter, but that’s the only reason I can come across. But if that's the reason they should realize, if a person is applying for a position then that means they really want it. Anyway, I was disappointed, as I had really given a lot of my time with equal efforts to write the tests. Looking for new opportunities now at the same time, I have written to them asking for a feedback on my performance. Will keep you posted if I get any.
