The interview was so poorly administered I wrote to the recruiter in Dublin and copied in a senior member of the HR team in the hope that this would not happen to another candidate, neither responded.
I was contacted by the recruiter on 21st May, following a brief exchange we settled upon a discussion on Thursday 23rd May at 10am, I did not receive a meeting confirmation. I waited for the recruiter to call it did not come, I sent you an email to which he replied that he was “double booked’, respectfully he made the arrangements so I fail to see how he could be double booked. Setting this aside, he then set up a video call for Tuesday 28th May at the same time and a meeting invitation duly arrives. I arrive to the bridge at 9.50, dressed approximately for a interview and then waited for 25 minutes for him, and he failed to show up. I sent him another email and he reply at 10.18pm asking if we can speak by phone as he is 'running late', which I accommodated.
When he arrive to the call, he then launch into a business overview that nobody could follow, given the speed of delivery, because he is late. There is zero rapport established by him and certainly no apology for the debacle that has preceded this. My internal dialogue at this time is tell him what he can do with his firms role, but given the machine gun delivery of questions it was clear he needed to be somewhere else. I had prepared for a video call, not speed shortlisting!
I have never experienced such a shoddy engagement with a recuiter, the experience was entity insulting and entirely disrespectful. As for candidate experience, there wasn’t one! You never get a second chance to create a first impression and my impression of him is I believe entirely justified.
If you are reading this and in the process of considering a role at TELUS International I suggest you save yourself the time and effort and take your talent elsewhere because this HR team aren't worth engaging with!
